About AUI-S

Why study at AUI-S?
AUI-S offers students the opportunity to study at an institution of higher education operating with international standards of instruction, administration, and ethics. Students are exposed to the latest developments in their field of study, taught by expert faculty from around the globe and prepared to succeed both in the local and international job markets. With the American approach to teaching and learning, an AUI-S student will be trained to think critically and analyze thoughtfully; s/he also will be exposed to a broad base of liberal arts knowledge combined with the practical skills of a career oriented major in order to allow him/her to excel in a chosen discipline/career.

Is AUI-S a governmental or public university?
No, AUI-S is an independent, private and non-profit university.

Academics

What programs does AUI-S offer?
In October of 2007, AUI-S began its first academic program in the English Writing Program and Language Institute. This program is designed to prepare freshmen to enter their degree studies as matriculated students. In the Spring Semester of 2008 AUI-S students entered their first degree courese in the pursuit of one of three undergraduate degrees currently offered at AUI-S: a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management & Policy Studies, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Systems & Information Technology and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Leadership. The University also offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Admission

What are the requirements for admission at AUI-S?
For undergraduate and graduate admissions requirements please see the webpage of the Office of Admissions.

How shall I apply?

Does admission require an interview?
The AUI-S admissions process may request an interview with an applicant on a case-by-case basis.

How will I know if I am accepted or not?
The Admissions Committee will meet to review all applications submitted to AUI-S. After review of applications, the Office of Admissions will contact students by mail, via email, or telephone.

Do you accept transferred students from other universities?
Graduate transfer credits are accepted under certain conditions.  Please see the Office of Admissions for details. Currently AUI-S does not accept undergraduate transfer credits. However, interested undergraduate students from other universities can join AUI-S on three conditions:
1- The student gets a release letter from their university.
2- The student meets the AUI-S admissions requirements.
3- The student is willing to start fresh with AUI-S, without expecting the transfer of any credits.

I do not have scores to submit for the TOEFL or any other English language test; may I still apply?
Yes, an undergraduate student may apply without TOEFL or any other English language test scores. However, after being admitted, students will be given an English language placement test in order to place them in the appropriate level of the English Writing Program and Language Institute. Only those students who do submit documented TOEFL scores of 550 or above shall be exempt from this English Program. Graduate applicants, however, must prove the achievment of 550 TOEFL before they are accepted in the MBA program.

Who has the best chance to be accepted?
Students who scored 90+% and above on their secondary school completion exams have the best chance for admission. Students with 80+% have very good chance for admissions.

When is the deadline for applying?
The deadline for applying for the Fall 2008 Semester is September 30th, 2008. The dealine for the Spring 2009 Semester is February 2nd, 2009.


Finances

How much does it cost to study at AUI-S?
The cost of study for the 2008-2009 academic year is as follows:

Undergraduate Studies
Tuition: $4,500/semester
Books:  $400/semester
Fees:    $100/semester (computer lab, IDs, English placement test)
Total:    $5,000/semester*

* A tuition deposit of $200 required of new students is included. Supplies, housing, board, transportation are not included.

What are the methods of payment available to students?
AUI-S offers two payment options. The first is a one-time payment, paid near the beginning of the Semester. The seond is a sequenced payment plan that allows the student to pay his/her tuition over time in a number of installments. In all cases, the only payment methods available are cash and bank transfers via written authorization. For details, please see the Tuition Payment Policy.

Does AUI-S offer scholarships?
Yes, AUI-S offers scholarship and financial aid programs. Please see the Office of Admissions for details. 


Student Life

Does AUI-S provide student housing?
During the 2008-2009 academic year, AUI-S has a limited ability to provide housing for students. The cost of any housing that the University does provide is not included in the tuition and fees.
